Play and Pray
(easy ways to reinforce our faith)
Truth revealed. Find and share Bible stories where Jesus tells or reveals something about God. What are some examples from our lives that reflect this truth?
Quiet time. Pick a time each week where all is just quiet – no tv, no computer, just quiet. Folks can read, pray, be open to God’s voice. Prayer is lifting our hearts and minds to God. Prayer is conversation with God. “Prayer is the key of Heaven,” St. Augustine. Prayer is a living relationship between the children of God and their Father.
Apostle’s Creed. Read and dissect the Apostle’s Creed together. What is this prayer saying line by line? What does it mean to believe? What must have Mary felt being asked to be the mother of God, raising Him and watching Him suffer? What does “descended into Hell” mean? Why do we call it “the holy Catholic Church?”
"The Apostles' Creed is so called because it is rightly considered to be a faithful summary of the apostles' faith. It is the ancient baptismal symbol of the Church of Rome. Its great authority arises from this fact: it is 'the Creed of the Roman Church, the See of Peter, the first of the apostles, to which he brought the common faith." - from the Catechism of the Catholic Church; 194.
